For people who like to quote the Bible out of context, I always tell them that my favorite verse is from Zepaniah - chapter one verse twelve (also out of context). “God does not care one way or the other”

Of course IN context the prophet is warning about people who say this.

If that doesn’t work, I like to remind white people that there are no white people in the Bible.

The Bible’s not the problem. It’s the cosplay theologians treating it like a Nerf gun they can aim at whoever makes them uncomfortable.

What Zach names is the scandal they’ll never confess: scripture’s always been a mirror, not a weapon. You look for blood, you’ll find it. You look for balm, you’ll find that too.

The “plain reading” crowd loves to pretend they’re objective, but if they were really reading plain, they’d notice Jesus kept wrecking the rulebook with one word: love.

Blessed be the ones who refuse to surrender the scrolls to the loudest bullies in the room.
