Oh, this is a keeper, Sarah. Thank you! This Advent season has been, for me, a quiet counterpoint to the noise and discouragement of the daily news. God indwelling with us provides an assuring reminder that God loves us - all of us - and, dare I believe that everything will be okay? Merry Christmas blessings to you and your beautiful family.
Thank you. I was taught that in Hebrew the phrase “and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” the dwelt meant “pitched a tent.” Staying with us. Right where we are. Making a home within us.
I studied Celtic Spirituality as part of my spiritual direction certification - and it really resonated with me. You’re spot on with this!! God wanting to be with us in the arc of scripture from Genesis to Revelation. The big question: how can we better learn to be with him?
Beautiful Sarah, thank you for these beautiful words. Wishing you and yours a Merry Christmas and warm blessings to come. Thank you for being the light on the path we are all walking. I wish you deep peace.
Sitting here Christmas morning in the quiet with my fake fireplace, thanks to YouTube, and this hit me smack in the heart. God is indeed with us. Merry Christmas Christmas!
“Perhaps these are the days for finding a spot in your yard or the park to stand with your arms out wide, taking a few deep breaths and calling it prayer.” - this invitation really touched me. Thank you.
Thank you for your beautiful words. I know this to be true. From a hard and life changing diagnosis, our family experiences the presence of God through acts of kindness, food, hugs, prayers and words of encouragement.
One kind person told me this fall that even if we didn’t know what to pray, to not worry about it. Others were praying for us and God was listening.
To me, this is the presence of God. With us, yes, but also through others.
Thank you for this beautiful reflection. It was a timely and much needed reset as I head into the busyness of this day and the weeks ahead (weary reader's busiest time of the work year). I'll carry this with me and re-read as needed to refresh my perspective and take note of God in-dwelling with us. Christmas blessings to you and your family!
“what does it mean to live our lives as if the Spirit is actually here and present within us…?”
I won’t pretend to be able to explain it concisely, but that’s exactly the sort of question that generations of Christ-centered Quakers from George Fox to the present day have had front of mind.

I absolutely loved this as it echoed deeply in my heart that Spirit is in us all and asks what do I want to do with this beautiful truth.
