In which I weigh in on everything from my current social media survival strategy to staying connected to our kids to what I would tell my younger self and beyond
Dear heavens that was fun, Sarah. And while this fellow introvert enjoys staying home in PJs and puttering about knitting and reading and dot painting on rocks….I would leave the house for you (and in fact, I have). We would look cool at the coffee shop with our knitted hat and knitted scarf and we would provide snappy responses to one another and then be wiping tears away five minutes later.
That’s what this AMA did for me. Come back to Moncton. I even moved here so easier access.
Thank you and this was a lot of fun to read the Q&A's. I had to laugh when I first saw the chalk drawings, I thought those were your answers, but oddly enough they kind of tandem some of the Q's a wee bit. This was wonderful. Answer duly noted. Blessings.
Love that 12th Doctor speech. I know it's not your circus or monkeys, but I think that is really where I'm at with U.S. politics and activism: we don't do it for our egos, for ease, to "win," or even because we think we'll succeed in our lifetimes. Unlike, perhaps, our opponents. We do it because it is kind, because it's right, because it's where we stand.
“I think we are under the shadow of God’s wing for seasons: it feels like darkness but it’s just the quiet of night in the embrace of a mother. And that’s a friendly place to me now.” Goodness that was beautiful. 🩷 thank you!!!
As a 6 whose questions are never-ending, I always look forward to reading these posts.
I mentioned in a previous post that I had reconnected w/a pastor friend & have begun trying to process church trauma. I asked him if we could have a q&a time soon. We set it up (Tuesday - it's almost here), and he said I could text him any I wanted him to be thinking about ahead of time. Friends, I sent a picture of my entire list - two pages handwritten. Bless my own heart. (And his. Lol.)
All that to say, the answer to the question about losing your spiritual footing gave me real pause today. I'm going to really sit w/that & w/the aforementioned list of questions - several of which have real "fix-it-fast" energy.
Turning toward love hits hard. That's how I've ended up in his small group the last couple months. I don't want anything to do w/church still... but I feel so much love in that living room that I'm drawn back, week by week.
Thank you for the permission to trust the season and the reminder to resist the (earnest) urge to force a fix. I need to sit w/this some more today.
For those seeking knitting videos, I LOVE purl together on YouTube. Jana has a lot of videos of how to do various things and she had knit alongs for different projects that show you how to do the various stages and are awesome for helping you. She is very reassuring and upbeat and I have learnt so much from her. Sarah inspired me to finally knit a sweater (and for it to be tin can knits harvest cardigan), Jana enabled me to actually complete it.
That Doctor Who speech is an Enneagram 9w1 call to action - whew! Also, I didn't get to the question box in time, but I'm 5'4" & my husband is 6'1" & every time I see a picture of us together I think (again) "I had no idea I was that short!" Do you ever feel that way too? Maybe I'm part chihuahua? Ha!
I just wanted to pop on and say I love your kiddos were in bed by 7:30pm too for way longer than their peers--very validating, as that is what we do too so we have some evening time for us before bed and it is very nice :)
An additional knitting YouTube recommendation: I found Davina Choy's channel, Sheep & Stitch, wildly helpful as I was just starting out. She has a whole playlist for "Total Beginners" which got me started when I was first learning. Once you're confident with a few fundamentals, VeryPink Knits and Tin Can Knits also have a lot of great resources on their respective YT channels.

Thank you. Reading this felt like home. X
Thanks for answering my ask! I really enjoy reading through all the answers.

Thanks to the questions and thanks for your answers.
This is really speaking into my life what it is to be loved by God, live my life and find my peace in this world of demands, social media and more...
It is so relieving, that you have honest, sincere & practical "answers" and life sometimes needs more "time and patience and compassion for myself"

Your answers were wonderful to read. Thank you for the wise words about introducing children to God. We just need to show the way and “be”!
Any chance you would be interested in leading a knitting and wisdom retreat?
