So grateful for all you have done. This will spread the load just a little so that more people can move the movement on in the future without the huge burden you must have carried, even gladly!
This is the most beautiful, poignant, and gentle passing of the leadership torch I've ever seen. I'm so deeply proud of you, dear friend. You have served so many so WELL through this work. May you be delighted at the abundance of peace in the wake of this transition. xoxo
Sarah, Congratulations on moving forward in a way that seems right for you. Of course you will be missed in the behind the scenes of EF, but I feel like you are doing what is best for you and for your family. That's huge.
Your influence on my life is big. I got to know RHE years ago and then you, too. Her loss is so hard. But I so appreciate how you have continued to walk in faith. My SS class- in a progressive Baptist church in Austin, TX- read your Wilderness book together; we loved it!
I have never been to EF, just follow it and you and Jeff, too. Though I'm a 71 year old widow, I feel close to you and think in another life we could have been good friends!! Continue in your sacred walk.
Sarah - I’m so pleased you are sharing your discernment with us. You continue to chart a path through the wilderness. What an amazing thing you began with amazing people! You deserve to let others carry the heavy water. But you have left an indelible mark on the world by looking remarkably like Jesus.
While I was reading this, along with the email from Evolving Faith, I kept hearing a voice in my head that said "it shall be well with my soul." That's my wish for you Sarah. For all the time and love you poured into that safe, special place for those of us who wander, my deepest gratitude.
So very grateful to you!! You changed my life (and my family’s) for the better in so many ways. Personal growth, courage and confidence to name a few. I’m a better human and Friend of Jesus. (Note I don’t call my self Christian😉). I’m excited for you in your next chapter of living life. I know you’ll do great things still❤️
This is wonderful! Crosspointe was "my church" during the pandemic and I love every one of the teaching pastors. They have a great energy and are affirming of all. I see them as a perfect next place for all of us who are evolving in faith. (And as an enneagram 5, I LOVE the teaching of the Bible in the context of those who first heard it!) Thank you for shepherding us to this point and for knowing when to stay and when to release EF to its next leaders. You are a wonder and I rejoice with you as you join "the flock." Much love as you adjust to more time with your family and yourself!
Oh Sarah. I know I don’t know you face to face but your work and Rachel’s work has been with me in my heart, for a long time. I’m so glad you are going to have some quietness and time for your family, and I’m selfishly glad you will be writing more. Your writing (and Rachel’s) has been a beacon for me when I get pulled back into the darkness that lives in the reality of Christians, and always has. I am sure with your compassionate transition and planning evolving faith will continue to grow and touch so many. I hope that this quieter time in your life your are filled with love and abundance and peace. And I look forward to following the new leadership on social media. I’m re reading “Field notes” right now and am taking my time with it, re reading many passages. It’s nice to slow down and love things deeply and mindfully. Much love, Renee.
I can't remember what came first for me, EF or Field Notes, but I'm grateful for all your good work. I'm picturing you hunkering down as fall and winter arrive, enjoying your family, knitting, walking, studying and writing to your heart's content. I'm sure you will be busier than ever, in a good way, and look forward to continuing our walk with Field Notes (and whatever else you offer to us) together. Thank you!
You inspire me with listening to your voice and knowing it’s time for new song to be sung for you! I look forward to what the words of the songs will be!
Honoring all of the sacred work you have done, are doing and will do. May compassion, grace and gentleness be alongside you as cross this threshold of transition. With so much gratitude for you and the bright light you shine in this world 🧡

Thankful for your stewardship of this inspiring community, Sarah! And excited to read more of your work in the days to come.
