Thank you for being a shelter in the storm, a calm for the heart, a peace in uncertainty, a balm for the soul, and a reminder to be all we can be in this broken world. Yes, and to offer our own brokenness in mercy.
Oh Sarah, this blessing is so, so tender and yet so powerful. It is exactly what I needed and what I will continue to read, and receive, throughout the challenging days, months and perhaps years ahead in America. You and your wisdom are such a gift to us all.
That just made me weep with relief, we're all just so tired. Too much of every last thing, weighed down from all we're trying to carry. As I read this, I could feel my shoulders relax and just let go. Thank you for these blessed words.
Life is too overwhelming and out of our control. It’s soul crushing for the fiercest believer. This was what we(I) need to read and reread. Your words Sarah, are literally the most beautiful I read, and I read all ur books 😍 they penetrate to my deepest core♥️
Thank you, friend! I am going to share this with book club tomorrow. We are meeting on election night to try to keep ourselves together. We continue to meet and I count them as dear friends in this wilderness.
This feels too holy for words, so know that I am here with you on sacred ground--mind open to possibility, heart set on defiant hope, soul unafraid of lament.
There are no awards handed out for blessings. Sadly, you cannot win the Nobel Blessing Award. But, if you could, if it was possible to show up for the Academy Award of Blessings you would win. Sarah Bessey's name would be called for this particular blessing. The words that showed up for us just when we need them the most, the love that accompanies them right across the cyberwaves, the comfort that is offered from one heart to another. This is it.
This blessing came at a good time, which is not the same as saying things are good right now. As it happens, after weeks of being on hold through my library, I started Miracles and Other Reasonable Things a couple weeks ago, and just finished the last couple hours today (audio for the win!). Thank you for listening to the Spirit and being willing to follow her lead. Thank you for grappling with grief. Thank you for sharing your story about healing but also the not healing, and the long winding journey in the midst and mix of those truths. Thank you for the benediction at the end. It could have been written for this time and place as well, so even though it was kairos in 2019, it was also kairos in 2024. This is a hard day for many of us south of your border, and adequate words fail. Thank you for your words and witness, and please keep it up as you are able.
What a balm to my weary soul today - thank you, Sarah as always for speaking into the spot where the words need to go. I love you.
