I rather love the idea of the Holy Spirit as a wild goose. Anyone who has been chased by a goose or heard their HISSSSSSSSS knows this is no tame bird!

Count me in. My great grandparents had them. Penned or not, they're Houdini birds. Ugh.

I'm glad I wasn't the only child traumatized by a goose chase!

Now is not the time to sit silent. Millions of Jews in the 30s went silently to the gas chambers. Americans are facing atrocities never before seen. HORRORS many actually VOTED FOR. Awareness is not fear mongering. I learned this from my neighbor, a Holocaust survivor. For those of us who choose to resist, yes we pray, be a light to the world, but we do NOT sit silent. Silence can be deadly.

Oh my goodness. Just what I needed to hear! My anger and despair have been threatening the Spirit's call to love and telling me that Love does not "win" after all. Thank you for this rousing cheer for courageous Love! Gimme an "L!"

Thank you, Sarah. I needed this so much today. I will read it again and I will read it to my family and we can say it together like a Creed. Thank you.

I am reading Field Notes for the Wilderness and sitting with “Remember to be For, not just against” our world needs builder-uppers MORE than tearer-downers; time to build….

Sarah, this post blew me away and right into the arms of Jesus. Thanks for the reminder. By the way, I also loved the vision of the Holy Spirit as a wild goose. We have them around here year round, I love their sense of community.

We bring order to the chaos by showing up fully to attend to the small things. We turn our lens inward to find the light that God put there and then we shine that light on our circle of influence to offer whatever hope we can.

Thank you for this necessary message.

Thank you for your inspiring words. It reminds me that the WAY we live out faith and love in the world matters. We all have different personalities and contribute to the expression of Christ-like love in unique ways. Jesus and his disciples were a small group of diverse outcasts that changed the world by daring to love the world into wholeness. It’s still our mission today!

Thank you for the reminders of all the ways we can pray, serve and lift our spirits during these dark days of winter and the sad and frustrating acts occurring in DC. Thankful to live in a state that is fighting back.
